Jeremiah was a courageous prophet that preached “repentance” to his nation, Judah. One of the keys words in Jeremiah is “backslide” because the nation continued to follow false prophets and worship false gods. His message was so strong that he was considered a traitor and persecuted by his own people. One of his many illustrated sermons was a clay vessel in the hands of a potter. Jeremiah also wrote the Book of Lamentations that so clearly reveals the suffering of God over sin. Lamentations are poems that were written to mark the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple. Jeremiah was so broken over the prophecies of the coming destruction that we can almost see tear stains through the pages.
